The harbors and coves become hubs of movement--lobster boats coming and going, sailboats and schooners passing through the Fox Islands Thorofare, and skiffs tied up at public docks and pulled up in quiet coves for a summer picnics.  We eat a lot of lobster and crabmeat, have many boating adventures,  swim, golf, partake in July 4th activities on Vinalhaven and Community Days on North Haven, hear interesting lectures and artist's talks, and have a lot of fun, overall. 
Winters on the islands are equally special–quiet, connected, and deeply local. We enjoy the slower pace and catching up with friends at a coffee shop or local restaurant, hiking Lane's Island or Mullens Head or one of the many gorgeous public walking trails. We also love spending time together in our homes, huddled around a wood stove, or cooking delicious meals in our kitchens.  There is plenty to do year-round on these island communities.
