North Haven is a thriving year-round island community known for its beautiful farm land and stunning natural beauty. The year-round population is about 325 and consists of a diverse group of professionals and retirees. In the summer our population swells to 1100+. The ferry from Rockland takes about 60 minutes and brings you to the southern side of the island into the Fox Islands Thorofare--the cruising waters between Vinalhaven and North Haven.
As soon as you step off the ferry the friendly people and charming architecture of North Haven await. Main Street includes our post office, The North Haven Gift Shop, Hopkins Gallery, Waterman's Community Center, Fox I. Printworks, Casino Yacht Club, and two restaurants--The Landing and Calderwood Hall. Tucked off Main Street is Nebo Lodge, a wonderful restaurant and B&B. Hike Ames Knob, picnic at Mullen's Head, enjoy our Saturday Farmer's Market, or swing by The Turner Farm--our largest organic farm. You can be as busy or as reclusive as you like here.
Whether you decide to stay a visitor or make this island your home, you will find yourself captivated by this extraordinary island and the people who make it special.
